TikTok Downloader Not Working - Quick Fixes
When a TikTok downloader stops working, the cause is usually one of a few common issues. This guide walks through the most likely problems and how to fix them quickly.

Common causes
1. Invalid or malformed URL
The most common issue. TikTok URLs can look different depending on where you copy them from. The link might include extra parameters, tracking codes, or be truncated. Make sure the URL starts with https://www.tiktok.com/ or https://vm.tiktok.com/ and contains a video ID.
2. Private or deleted video
If the video was set to private or deleted after you copied the link, the downloader cannot access the source file. This is not a bug — the video simply is not available to the public.
3. Browser issues
Outdated browsers, enabled content blockers, or interfering extensions can prevent the download button from working. Try disabling extensions one by one, or open TikItDown in an incognito/private window.
4. Network restrictions
Some corporate, school, or public networks block access to certain sites. If TikItDown is not loading at all, try switching to a different network — mobile data, home Wi-Fi, or a different connection.
5. Temporary server issue
Rarely, TikTok's servers may be slow to respond, causing the download to time out. Wait a minute and try again.
Step-by-step troubleshooting
- Check the URL — open TikTok, find the video again, and copy a fresh link. Paste it into TikItDown and try again.
- Try incognito mode — open a private/incognito window and try the download there. This rules out extensions and cached data.
- Switch browsers — if Chrome is not working, try Edge, Firefox, or Safari. This helps identify whether the issue is browser-specific.
- Clear browser cache — go to your browser settings and clear cached data for TikItDown, then reload the page.
- Disable content blockers — ad blockers and privacy extensions sometimes interfere with download buttons. Disable them for TikItDown.
- Check the video status — open the original TikTok link in a new tab. If the video is deleted or private, you will see an error there too.
- Try again later — if everything looks correct but the download still fails, it may be a temporary issue. Try again in a few minutes.
